The Tourism Business Database is where eligible tourism businesses create and manage information that can be shown on newzealand.com and shared through selected partner channels.
How your content moves through the system
Your content follows this pathway:
Business Profile created
Reviewed by our moderators, and approved
Product Listing created
Reviewed by our moderators, and approved
Product Listing is published to newzealand.com and selected partner channels
Your Business Profile
Your Business Profile contains information about your business, such as your business name, logo, contact details, website and social media links. You need an approved Business Profile before you can create Product Listings.
A Business Profile does not appear to visitors by itself. To show a product, service or experience to visitors, you also need at least one approved Product Listing.
Your Product Listings
A Product Listing describes a specific product, service or experience. This is the visitor-facing content that can appear on newzealand.com after it has been approved.
TNZ moderator review
Tourism New Zealand reviews submitted content before it is published. This helps make sure content is accurate, eligible, useful for visitors and aligned with the Tourism Business Database ⚪terms and conditions.
If changes are needed, open the content, review the feedback, make the required updates and resubmit it for review.
Where approved content may appear
Approved Product Listings can appear on newzealand.com. Some content may also be available through the Tourism Business Database API for selected partners to use, such as Regional Tourism Operators. Partner websites choose which available content they display and when they update it.
Why content may not appear where expected
Your Product Listing may not appear where expected if:
It is still in draft or waiting for review.
It needs changes or has been unpublished.
Its category, tag or location does not match the page being viewed.
A partner has chosen not to use the available content.
A partner website has not yet updated its content.
What you can control
You can make your content easier for visitors and digital systems to find and understand by:
Keeping your business information and Product Listings accurate and current
Using specific, verified descriptions rather than broad claims
Choosing accurate categories, tags and locations
Adding strong, current images
Using direct website and booking links
Keeping your core facts consistent across your website and other controlled profiles
